Art Talk Tuesday: NYC

on

New York…”concrete jungle where dreams are made from there’s nothing you can’t do, now you’re in New York”. I had the privilege of calling myself a New Yorker (at least part time) for 2 years during graduate school. To say New York is an amazing city is an understatement. There’s nothing the city can’t offer, no limits to its imagination and no end to its energetic vibe. Many of my friends have called this city home, some still do—I even still have keys to apartments in NYC.

Most of us can remember where we were 11 years ago today. I was on my way to my first museum professionals conference in Daytona Beach, Florida. I was far away from New York, but there were several people I love very much who were there, who saw it unfold with their own eyes. On a day like today, it is important to remember the city as it was, and as it is today—ever growing, ever strengthening. It is also important to reach out to the people you love the most and tell them just that, “I love you!”

And the next time someone rubs you the wrong way, just say… “Bitch, please I’m from New York”.
